This is your Heart partnered with Hoffmann Art Management to organize an expert Talk during the 15th edition of the Contemporary African Art Biennale in Dakar to highlight challenges of conservation of artistic and cultural heritage in Africa and opportunities to strengthen local ecosystems in this field. The event gathered distinguished speakers including Oumar Badiane, the Director of the Cultural Heritage Directorate at the Ministry of Culture of Senegal, Anne-Marie Faye, Director of the National Gallery in Dakar, Abdoulaye Ndoye, established artist and Curator of the National Pavilion of the 2024 Dakar Biennale, Christine Blachère, Director of the Blachère Foundation in France, Andrea Hoffmann, art restorer of leading contemporary art collections in Switzerland, Sylvain Sankalé, recognized art collector, art critic and curator in Senegal, and Christophe Person, Director of Christophe Person gallery in Paris. Speakers recognized the importance of sensitizing stakeholders in Africa to the issue of conservation and quality in the use of materials, in particular as the art production is gaining an increased visibility on the international art market and in world-class art institutions. The Talk gathered significant interest from the audience and opened the opportunity to further explore this theme in the next edition of the Dakar Biennale .
